The Buckleys of Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire
Samuel and Betty lived in Wood Street behind the Talbot Inn (which became a bank in 1923) on Stamford Street. It was here that Joseph, my great great grandfather, was born on 10.9.1836, christened nearly four months later on New Years Day 1837.
The christening records from St Michael’s Church, page 214,
number 1707, show father Samuel’s "Quality, Trade or Profession" as
a Carter though in the 1851 census his trade was that of a brickmaker.
Joseph Buckley was born on 10/9/1836 in Wood street, Ashton.
